Sample Preparation for microprobe analysis

We are currently equipped to handle standard geological thin sections (27mm x 46mm), and 25mm round epoxy mounts.  All samples must be polished, flat, and have a clean surface. Most samples will need to be coated with a thin layer of conductive material (typically carbon) before being placed into the instrument, in order to avoid any accumulation of charge. Other coatings may be available upon request.  If possible you should drop your samples off well before your scheduled appointment to be coated.
